Soldier Control Basics for March of Giants

Learn a practical way to think about Soldier movement, reinforcement, pressure, and retreats without relying on unverified unit statistics or unreleased commands.

Give every Soldier move a job

Before moving a group, name its job. A force that is advancing should be supported; a force that is holding should have a reason to stay; a force that is retreating should not be abandoned. This simple vocabulary prevents random movement from becoming wasted pressure.

The Soldiers overview explains why this layer matters, and 4v4 battle basics places it inside team play.

Keep the Giant and army connected

A Giant’s position changes which Soldier actions are safe. Read how Giants lead Soldiers before splitting a force across multiple routes. If the Giant cannot influence the next decision, the army may be creating noise instead of control.

Reinforce before the collapse

Watch for a position that is losing space but has not yet become unrecoverable. Reinforcing early gives the team more choices than arriving after a route is already lost. The exact timing depends on the current build and map, so record the test date when you turn this principle into a guide.

Use structures deliberately

Battleworks and map control shows how a structure can support a Soldier task. A defensive choice should buy time or protect a route; an aggressive choice should create a clear reason for the opponent to respond.

What to verify in testing

The official Steam page is the place to check the current store description. Do not infer final unit names, commands, or balance values from a trailer frame alone.
